That feeling of “ohhhhh, this is my FAVE-orite” is one of those amazing kid feelings. A pure declaration of pure enjoyment; nothing better.

I can still remember like it was yesterday loving when someone would ask me what my favorite color was. “Yellow, Yellow, Yellow! I would shriek as if it was as important as the National Health Care crisis.

So when my daughter asked me what I used to wear when I was her age as she pulled on her sequined Lemon long sleeve tee, striped leggings and a ripped jean skirt on top (the whole mis-matched, Pippi Longstocking look has me in stitches too) I couldn’t help but take a stroll down memory lane … the Famalore wedge shoes, velour tops and Gloria Vanderbilt cords served me well. I wanted to share some of these faves of mine with her and so together we created a game. We grabbed some index cards and a marker and each wrote down a question about a favorite thing of ours (my answers were to be based on when I was her age for fun and nostalgia).

Favorite Book, Favorite Word, Favorite Game to Play, Favorite Candy, Favorite Cereal, Favorite Zoo Animal, Favorite Pizza slice, Favorite Store, Favorite Pop Star, Favorite Movie, Favorite Art Project, Favorite Amusement Park Ride, Favorite Singer, Favorite Stuffed Animal and Favorite Holiday… just to name a few.

Then one by one we both answered and for plenty of them we himmed and hawed over which was our favorite … Skittles or m&m’s, how could one choose? The Parent Trap or High School Musical, that’s a tough a call and an American Girl doll or a Teddy Bear, now that’s an absurd choice to have to make. … go ahead and have some fun with your fave’s to.

Suburban Share: So tell us, what’s your favorite cereal? Lucky Charms is sure to be a hit.
